Background Info 1 WTC

One World Trade Center, also known as 1 World Trade Center, 1 WTC or Freedom Tower is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, NYC. It’s the 6th tallest building in the World. It surpassed the height of the Empire State Building. The new 1 WTC has the same name as the North Tower of the original World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. One World Observatory opened on May 29, 2015. The top floor of One World Trade Center is 1,368 feet (417 m) above ground level but the tower’s antenna/spire brings it to a pinnacle height of 1,776 feet (541 m).

The tower has a three-story observation deck, located on floors 100–102, Similar to the Empire State Building, visitors are separated from the tenants, having their own separate entrance next to the museum, descending down to a below-ground security screening area. On the observation deck, the actual viewing space is on the 100th floor, but there is a food court on the 101st floor and a space for events for the 102nd floor.

There are three eating venues at the top of the building: One Café, a bar and One Mix (small plates), and a fine dining restaurant called One Dining. Food prices are a bit high though.

The venue is open from 09:00 – 20:00. May 6 to Sep. 10 till 22:00. We’ve visited during the afternoon, but Observatory managers say that the best time to visit is the early morning, during sunset or after 20:30.

Make sure to go on a clear day because if it’s cloudy it’s very likely the top floors will be shrouded in clouds.
