Skip the Line Palace of Versailles Tickets

Last updated: January 2026

The Palace of Versailles is one of the most visited attractions in France and one of the busiest in Europe. With millions of visitors every year, long queues are the norm, especially for standard tickets. Skip-the-line Palace of Versailles tickets are designed to reduce waiting time and give you priority access to the palace at a reserved time. Versailles is also one of the most popular day trips from Paris and consistently ranks among the top Paris attractions.

What skip-the-line means at the Palace of Versailles

Skip-the-line tickets for Versailles allow you to bypass the main ticket purchase queues and enter the palace at a fixed time slot. This does not mean you skip security checks. All visitors must pass through mandatory security screening before entering.

What you skip:

  • The long on-site ticket purchase lines
  • Unreserved entry uncertainty during busy periods

What you do not skip:

  • Security screening
  • Timed entry controls inside the palace

Do you really need skip-the-line tickets for Versailles?

In most cases, yes. Waiting times without a timed ticket regularly exceed 60 to 120 minutes between April and October. Even in the low season, weekends and school holidays can bring long lines. Skip-the-line tickets provide predictable entry and are strongly recommended if you have limited time in Paris. Travelers planning to visit multiple attractions in the city sometimes consider the Paris City Card, but for Versailles, a timed skip-the-line ticket remains the most predictable way to secure entry.

How entry works with skip-the-line tickets

With a skip-the-line ticket, you arrive at the palace entrance at your selected time slot. Staff scan your ticket and direct you to the priority access line. After security checks, you enter directly into the palace.

Late arrival may result in refused entry, especially during peak periods.

How long does a visit take?

  • Palace only: 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Palace and Gardens: 3 to 4 hours
  • Full estate including Trianon: 4 to 6 hours

The Hall of Mirrors and State Apartments are the busiest areas and often dictate the pace of your visit.
